A tree and her roots are giddy with glee, as they join the neighborhood party, rollicking underground, netted together in phantasmic accord. “Accept the imaginary, ” the consensus says. “It is but our duty to send this message: Be at once masterful of the witted place; treasure up her resource; ’tis not a game, but very life itself.” And the people listened. And they were at-one with the whole earth.

A Humble Petition
A HUMBLE PETITION
by Loretta Boyer McClellan
In Honor of Earth Day: April 22, 2015
Bands of life from the soil to sky
Imparts of her wisdom so you and I
May renew her vows of a nourishing truth
Warm her face and untangle her roots
See the dawn through the trees
And the force of her seas
And pause—reflect, in full majesty
Awake! Awake! At long last we breathe!
Communing with nature is not mystery
‘Tis souls entwined through the leaf and with vine
A petaled transference of Spirit Divine!
May stewards we are, bring life to her stores
Tap into the richness, rejoice evermore
Sweet spring, and summer, her fall—winters too
From brown, green and gold to the lilac and blue
A kingdom of grace so effulgent, yet spare
Bows down to the tiniest creature, so rare
No prideful remarks only tender refrain
Her music aloft sings of hope to remain
Swells eager in trust for the care of her youth
A lasting and humble petition: Renew
